Water is paid to the municipality

In North Cyprus water is supplied by municipalities. You pay the bill to the municipality your home belongs to. It is separate from electricity (KIB-TEK).

  • The bill shows the municipality's name and your subscriber number; online payment asks for this number.
  • Villages around the big towns may belong to a different municipality. If unsure, check the bill or ask your landlord.
  • If no bill arrives or you lost it, call the municipality; they can tell you your subscriber number.

When you move

  • Photograph the meter reading when you move in, so the previous tenant's debt doesn't become yours.
  • Ask your landlord whose name the water is in. To put it in your name, ask the municipality which documents you need; usually a rental contract and ID.
  • When you leave, pay the last bill and note the final meter reading.
