What should I do if I get ill?

  1. 1Minor illness

    For a cold or mild pain, ask a pharmacist first. On-duty pharmacies are open at night and at weekends.

    You can book outpatient appointments at state hospitals through the Ministry of Health's online appointment page. Private hospitals and clinics also treat patients for a fee.

What foreigners should know

  • Fees and insurance depend on your situation; ask about the cost before an examination.
  • The Ministry of Health has a health insurance portal; universities and employers can also advise on insurance.
  • If you stay in North Cyprus longer than 90 days you need a residence permit; a health report may be required. Check current requirements with the Immigration Department.
